Public transport in Karaganda has been renewed by 80 percent, reports "24KZ". This year, carriers put 195 new buses on the route. The regularity of their movement can be monitored in real time.
Buses with 13-year mileage were replaced with new ones, and they are produced at the local plant. The vehicles are equipped with smart cameras, speed limit sensors and elevators for the disabled.
- New, very good buses. Comfortable, the seats are well arranged. They're neat and tidy.
- They have normal intervals now. The buses are warm. I have no complaints from my side.
Carriers have been removing worn-out buses from the routes for three years already. The average age of Karaganda's public transportation has approached six years.
Kazbek Makyshev, head of the Passenger Transport and Roads Department:
- Partially the fleets apply the mechanism of preferential leasing financing, which is provided by the Industrial Development Fund. That is, there is a preferential interest rate, no down payment, plus second-tier bank lending. Buses are purchased at their own expense.
Karaganda's public transportation and intercity buses switched to electronic fare payment two years ago. The transparent system allows the authorities to track the real passenger flow in all directions. In addition, with cashless payment, a ticket is twice as cheap.
Marat Tusupov, member of the Public Council of Karaganda Oblast:
- Firstly, new routes have been added. Secondly, the number of buses has increased. This has had a very good effect on the passenger flow. Now only time - after nine o'clock sometimes they can't get there. This moment should be settled.
More than 200 thousand residents of Karaganda use public transportation every day. Children up to 18 years old ride in the buses of the regional center free of charge. More than a thousand passenger buses are used on regional routes. Car fleets plan to renew them 100 percent.
