Kazakhstan has started its own production of household appliances and televisions at the Silk Road Electronics factory. The factory is located in the Saran industrial zone in the Karaganda region, on the site of the once abandoned RTI factory.
Today, 7 types of products have been launched at a modern automated enterprise. These are electric water heaters, vacuum cleaners, kitchen stoves, mini stoves, kitchen hoods, semi-automatic washing machines and televisions. All this is produced under a single Artel brand.
"We produce seven different modifications on the line of kitchen hoods. Televisions and semi-automatic washing machines have the same number of types. Vacuum cleaners and electric water heaters have slightly smaller ones - five each. Mini-ovens are produced in eight configurations, and kitchen stoves - in 12," said Nurgul Zhorgembay, a process engineer of the line of semi-automatic washing machines.
At the initial stage, employees establish work on seven production lines. Next, the factory will launch the production of circuit boards for household appliances and televisions. In parallel, a site for injection molding machines (an automated machine for manufacturing parts from thermoplastics by casting) will be established. In addition, the stamping of products is planned at the factory.
The capacity of the factory at full capacity by 2025 will be up to 1.1 million pieces of products per year. At the initial stage, about 400 residents of Saran, Shakhtinsk and Karaganda will be employed here. In the future, the staff is planned to increase to 1200.
"I am from Saran myself and I know what this place used to be like. There used to be a factory of rubber products here, then it was idle for many years. And now look at what a large, extensive and bright enterprise it became. Jobs were provided to people. And this is not the limit, additional lines will open in the future.
After training, I started working as an assembler on the gas stove production line. Then I was transferred as an operator to metal bending machines, and now I am a master of the production line of electric water heaters. I am in charge of this department, I tell my people what to do," Arman Abylkhairov said.

The project is being implemented with the support of JSC NUH "Baiterek" through JSC "Industrial Development Fund".
