On July 11, 2025, a new modern electric train with six comfortable passenger carriages was launched in Astana. The train was acquired with the financial support of Industrial Development Fund JSC.
This new electric train will provide high-quality and safe transportation for hundreds of passengers by rail along the Astana — Borovoe route.
It is worth noting that this is already the third electric train purchased with the support of the Industrial Development Fund.
The new-generation rolling stock for Passenger Transportation JSC was manufactured at the domestic plant ZIKSTO LLP in the city of Petropavlovsk and meets international standards — from digital solutions to multi-level service.
The trip from the capital to one of Kazakhstan's most popular tourist destinations will take only 2.5 hours. The “Burabay Express” electric train will run five times a week.
The suburban train, designed to accommodate 374 passengers, includes six comfortable carriages equipped with a modern air conditioning system.
Currently, 60% of the country’s population regularly uses railway transport, confirming its high social significance.
It should be emphasized that the newly acquired electric train is classified as “green” transport, producing no harmful emissions into the atmosphere and fully complying with international environmental standards.
As a result of the acquisition of these electric trains, 15 new jobs have been created, including 3 electric train drivers, 3 assistant drivers, and 9 carriage attendants.
It is worth noting that with the financial support of the Industrial Development Fund JSC, more than 600 comfortable passenger railcars have been procured for the country’s railway sector, and over 60 more are planned for delivery in 2025.
