On December 13, 2024, in the city of Astana, a solemn ceremony took place for the handover of a new modern electric train with six comfortable passenger carriages to Passenger Transport JSC purchased with financial support from Industrial Development Fund JSC.
The event was attended by Rinat Gapparov, Chairman of the Board of Industrial Development Fund JSC, the leadership of Passenger Transport JSC and JSC NC Kazakhstan Temir Zholy.
The new electric rolling stock will ensure the safe and high-quality transportation of hundreds of passengers by rail on the Astana-Borovoe route.
- A fundamental, key principle of the corporate policy of the Industrial Development Fund is the social orientation of projects that have a long-term impact primarily for our fellow citizens. Undoubtedly, the acquisition of the electric train with comfortable carriages, with the financial support of the Fund, is further evidence and an example of our consistent adherence to the social component of our strategy. The Industrial Development Fund is systematically implementing projects to renew public transport, including, of course, railway transport, considering that thousands of citizens of our country use these services daily, - emphasized Rinat Gapparov, Chairman of the Board of Industrial Development Fund JSC.
It is important to note that from January to December 2023, 19.8 million passengers were transported by rail in the country. This is a 2.1% increase compared to the same period in 2022. Currently, 60% of the population regularly uses rail transport, which underscores its social significance.
It should be emphasized that the acquired electric train is considered a "green" type of transport, as it does not produce harmful emissions into the atmosphere and meets international environmental standards.
As part of this investment project, with the financial support of Industrial Development Fund JSC, a total of 3 units of domestically produced electric rolling stock, manufactured by ZIKSTO JSC will be delivered.
The acquisition of these electric trains will lead to the creation of 15 new jobs, including 3 ERS drivers, 3 assistant drivers, and 9 train conductors.
It is also worth noting that, with the financial support of Industrial Development Fund JSC, a total of 534 comfortable passenger carriages have been acquired for the country's railway industry, including more than 150 carriages in 2024.
