On August 18, 2025, a grand opening ceremony was held in the city of Saran, Karaganda Region, to mark the launch of the Silk Road Electronics LLP plant for the production of Samsung televisions and washing machines, supported by financing from Industrial Development Fund JSC.
The event was attended by Timur Tulebekov, Managing Director of Industrial Development Fund JSC; Yermaganbet Bulekpayev, Akim of the Karaganda Region; Azamat Panbayev, Chairman of the Industry Committee of the Ministry of Industry and Construction of the Republic of Kazakhstan; and Ms. Eugene Chung, President of Samsung Electronics Central Eurasia.
As part of the implementation of this large-scale project, the Fund provided comprehensive financial support for both the capital construction of the production facility and the procurement of advanced, high-tech equipment that meets Samsung’s international quality standards, ensuring the reliability and long service life of the manufactured products.
The launch of the new plant marks an important milestone in strengthening industrial cooperation between Kazakhstan and South Korea and creates new opportunities for the localization of advanced manufacturing in the country.
The plant’s designed production capacity is 1.1 million units of home appliances annually.
Samsung washing machines produced at the facility are equipped with innovative features and integrated into the SmartThings ecosystem, allowing users to control their devices remotely and receive personalized recommendations for optimal washing modes.
At the same time, the plant has begun producing high-resolution Smart TVs — including Crystal UHD 4K, FHD, and HD models — offering vivid picture quality, access to streaming services, and compatibility with smart home systems. Production of QLED TV models is also planned for the future.
Once Silk Road Electronics reaches its full production capacity, the number of jobs at the facility will increase to 1,100 employees.
